We Won Gold at the IWSC 2022!

International Wine & Spirits Competition Logo

We’re so pleased to announce that Wessex Distillery has won gold this year at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2022! This is the fourth consecutive year we’ve taken part in the competition and have previously won gold outstanding for our Wyvern’s Classic London Dry Gin and gold for our Saxon Garden Floral Gin.

The IWSC has been running for over 50 years, since 1970, and we are so pleased to be recognised once again for our award-winning craft gin. Judged by world-renowned gin experts, it’s truly an honour to have been awarded for not one, but two gins!

At the IWSC, the judges take into account balance, complexity and power in terms of flavour, but also packaging and drinking experience is also considered. We work hard to perfect each bottle of small batch craft gin we create. Our distillation is a meticulous process based on traditional methods and using local ingredients. We also strive for sustainable gin, and this is a key consideration in our packaging choices.

Which Wessex Distillery Gins won gold in 2022?

English Sloe Gin

Wessex Distillery's British Sloe Gin

Our traditional sloe gin is extremely smooth, has an ABV of 28%, and has sweet and earthy notes with a subtle hint of almond. Our refreshing sloe gin is distilled for over 6 months in our copper still and made from ingredients sourced from the local English countryside.

Old Tom Gin for The Dorchester Hotel

Wessex Distillery's Custom Old Tom Gin for The Dorchester Hotel

We worked with The Dorchester hotel to create a bespoke Old Tom gin recipe, which is a sweeter version of a classic London Dry Gin, and a matching Dorchester Hotel branded bottle. With an ABV of 43%, we collaborated with the hotel’s bar manager; Guilano Morandin, for this custom order. This gin was created to be served or ordered from the historic, luxury 5* hotel bar in London as an exclusive branded gin. If you’d like to enquire about a bespoke wholesale order with us, you can get in touch here.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the team at Wessex Distillery, as a small family-run business these moments make doing what we love even more special.
